India extends the counteraction of China’s hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel plates to take effect

On September 30, 2021, the Taxation Bureau of the Ministry of Finance of India announced that the deadline for the suspension of countervailing duties on Chinese Hot Rolled and Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Flat Products (Certain Hot Rolled and Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Flat Products) will be changed to January 2022. 31st. This case involves products under the Indian customs codes 7219 and 7220.

   On April 12, 2016, India initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel plates originating in or imported from China. On July 4, 2017, India made a final affirmative anti-subsidy ruling on China’s hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel plates, suggesting to impose a countervailing duty of 18.95% on the import declaration value (landed value) of the Chinese products involved, and anti-dumping has been imposed. Anti-dumping duties are reduced or exempted for the products involved in the tax case. On September 7, 2017, India began to impose countervailing duties on Chinese products involved in the case. On February 1, 2021, the Taxation Bureau of the Ministry of Finance of India issued an announcement stating that from February 2, 2021 to September 30, 2021, the levy of countervailing duties on Chinese hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel plates will be suspended.
