A more scientific definition is “a covered structure that protects the plants from extensive external climate con0ditions and diseases, creates optimal growth microenvironment, and offers a flexible solution for sustainableand efficient year-round cultivation.” A modern greenhouse operates as a system, therefore it is also referred to as controlled environment agriculture (CEA), controlled environment plant production system (CEPPS), or phytomation system. 

Many commercial greenhouses or hothouses are high tech production facilities for vegetables or flowers. The glass greenhouses are filled with equipment including screening installaions, heating, cooling, lighting, and may be controlled by a computer to optimize conditions for plant growth. Different techniques are then used to evaluate optimality-degrees and comfort ratio of greenhouse micro-climate (i.e., air temperature, relative humidity and vapor pressure deficit) in order to reduce production risk prior to cultivation of a specific crop.

The current general formal greenhouse greenhouse companies will commonly use the following materials:

Shape: square pipe, round pipe, oval pipe, bending pipe, hexagon pipe, Octagonal pipe, and other special shaped pipes.

Material: Pre-galvanized steel pipe and hot-dip galvanized steel pipe.

Commen Material

1.Square tube: generally used on the vertical column of intelligent greenhouse, this general specification is 70*50,50*100,
100*100, 120*120, 150*150 or other larger square tube, smaller square tube such as 50*50 for greenhouse horizontal tie bar.

2.Circular tube: it is used to build the framework of the greenhouse. It is a secondary load-bearing structure, and the force is
transmitted to the main stress structure after being stressed. It is the framework of the greenhouse.

3.Elliptic tube: elliptic tube is a new product introduced in recent years. Compared with circular tube, elliptic tube has a
particularly good pressure resistance. However, because the existing elliptic tube is made of galvanized tape, its anti-corrosion
performance is inferior to that of circular tube.

4.Profile Steel: it is used on the top of intelligent greenhouse to form a steel frame. It has the advantage of low cost and poor
stability compared with square pipe.It is mainly used in areas with low stress and corrosion protection requirements.
